Where the car sets off from
Worth stating plainly, since it governs how long you wait: no premises stands on
Mai Khao. One serving the area directly is intended but does not exist yet. Until it
does, the doctor drives up from the clinic at Cherng Talay, Thalang.
- Address: 152/1 Bandon Road, Cherng Talay, Thalang 83110

On Bandon Road in Cherng Talay, about 25 minutes by road from the Mai Khao resorts. Should you prefer being examined in person to waiting for somebody to arrive, that is
the address, and its doors are never locked — see
the nearest walk-in clinic.
What to tell whoever answers
Nothing shortens the wait like a findable address. Properties along here are enormous, several
share one access road, and villa compounds routinely have more than one gate with a single manned
entrance after dark.
- The name of the resort or villa, and which unit
- Which gate is open, if there is a choice
- A mobile number somebody will actually pick up
- Whether the front desk has been told to expect a doctor
Sending somebody down to the entrance saves more minutes than anything else, especially overnight
when the main gate may be the only way in.
No hour is a bad one
A great deal of this work happens between midnight and four — children running temperatures,
stomachs that finally defeat somebody, cuts, and people whose friends have grown worried about them.
None of it improves for being left until breakfast.
If you cannot decide whether it warrants a call-out, ring and describe it. That costs nothing and
resolves the question more often than not.
Useful to have to hand
- Passport if it is nearby — treatment does not depend on it
- Policy details, raised at the start of the visit rather than the end
- Whatever you take regularly, in its packaging or photographed
- For a child: age and approximate weight
- For a temperature: which day it began, and the highest figure recorded
Paying, and claiming
Card or cash once the visit is over. The cost, call-out included, is agreed before treatment
starts rather than presented afterwards. Each visit can produce an itemised receipt and a report in
English, which between them satisfy most insurers — see
travel insurance claims.
Ask for those documents before the doctor packs up and leaves. What an insurer later requires tends
to be exactly what becomes difficult to obtain once you are back in another country.
In an emergency
Dial 1669 for the national ambulance service rather than waiting on a visit —
chest pain, struggling for breath at rest, stroke signs, bleeding that will not stop, a fit, a
near-drowning, or anyone who cannot be roused. See
emergency medical care.
